Dr. Enrico Petrillo
Dr. Petrillo is founder and Managing Director of Petrillo Capital. His passion lies with advising and building successful Healthcare, Technology and IT companies, driven by over thirty years of combined experience. Previous to Petrillo Capital, Dr. Petrillo held a series of well-respected corporate roles, including Founding General Partner of CB Health Ventures LLC, where he succeeded in leading forward companies like Morphotek (acquired by Eisai Co. Ltd Japan) and Exact (EXAS). He also served as a Senior Consultant and Founding Partner in the technology commercialization group of Fletcher Spaght, a Boston based consulting firm spun out of the Boston Consulting Group, and devoted time as Founding Director of Excel Venture Management. His past investments include BioTrove, BIOCIUS, Quovadx, eBenX, GeneOhm, MedVentive, Aileron Therapeutics, Aventura, ClearData, IlluminOss, Lantos Technologies, Saladax and ShapeUp.
Over the past ten years, Dr. Petrillo’s advisory clients have included numerous multinational pharmaceutical, information technology and biotechnology firms, as well as medical services and device companies. He has actively advised nearly twenty companies as an effective Board Observer and Director. He served as Founder and Director of Molecular Insight. He was both a Venture Investor and Board Participant of Exact Sciences and XCare.net. He served as a Board Observer and Director of GeneOhm, MedVentive, Exact, U.S. Genomics, Expressgen Inc., Quovadx, eBenX and TransMedics.
Dr. Petrillo’s experience is not bound by the corporate world. He has held positions including Adjunct Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine, clinical consultant in internal medicine for the US Department of Health and Services, and advisor to the United States Department of Defense, Office of the Secretary and affiliated facilities. Dr. Petrillo has extensive experience in government and public services having served as a staff member and advisor to U.S. Senator Paul E. Tsongas, and as a transition advisor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under presidential transition director Elizabeth Doyle for then presidential candidate Ronald Regan. Dr. Petrillo serves as Director of entities emanating from technologies at MIT, Harvard, Brown and Johns Hopkins Universities. He serves as a Key Advisor for new ventures and technology to major research centers such as Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Massachusetts General and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Petrillo serves as Lead Investigator at Brigham and Women’s in the Division of General Internal Medicine, as well as Advisor to Chairman, Dept. of Medicine and Physician – in – Chief for International Research.
Dr. Petrillo earned both his undergraduate degree, Magna Cum Laude, and M.D. from Tufts University. He completed his internship and residency at Harvard affiliated hospitals in Boston. Dr. Petrillo is uniquely qualified to provide a broad strategic vision that incorporates his wealth of accomplishments in academia, medicine, business, and politics.
